Made for busy teachers

One unit a year

Six lessons of 45 to 60 minutes, one half-term, each with a big question pupils step into.

Talk at the heart

Every lesson uses a different talk routine with sentence frames, and every unit ends with an oral assessment.

Safe by design

Pupils do not use AI tools themselves in these units. Every lesson has a no-device option, and safeguarding notes are included.

Everything included

A unit overview, a talk toolkit, six lesson plans and six slide decks with speaker notes.

Choose a year group

Open a unit to download the overview, the talk toolkit and each lesson. Word files can be edited to suit your school.

Before you teach. Each unit overview lists any lesson where we suggest telling your Designated Safeguarding Lead first. Please read it, and check the plans against your own school's policies on AI and online safety.

Free to use in your own school. Please keep the GenTech name on the files and do not sell them or share them as your own. The scheme is adapted from OECD / European Union (2026), "Empowering learners for the age of AI: An AI literacy framework for primary and secondary education", doi.org/10.1787/65cd27d4-en (CC BY 4.0). This is an adaptation of an original work by the OECD and the European Union. The views in this adaptation should not be reported as representing the official views of the OECD, its Member countries or the European Union.

Rolling this out across a school or trust?

Free lessons are a strong start. If you want a plan for staff confidence, governance and AI use across your whole school, that is what we do.

Want a new resource?

Tell us what would help your school and we will add it to the hub. We are also looking for schools to try the units and share feedback.

Help every pupil understand AI.

Download a unit, try it with a class, and tell us how it goes.
